Do I need a Korean phone number to book tickets in Korea?

Not always. Many Korean booking sites verify you with a Korean mobile number, but global versions such as NOL World and Melon Ticket Global let you book with a regular account and verify with your passport. Some attractions also sell tickets on site.

Why Korean sites ask for a phone number

Many Korean-language booking sites and apps confirm who you are through a mobile phone registered in your own name. A foreign number, or a prepaid SIM that is not registered to you, usually cannot pass this step. That is why the same concert or show can be easy to book on one site and impossible on another. The fix is usually to use the global (English) version of the platform rather than the Korean one.

Global booking sites that use your passport

NOL World (the global platform from the company formerly known as Interpark Global) sells concert, show and attraction tickets to international visitors. You need a member account to book, and some concerts require a verified account, using a non-Korean passport, before the sale opens. Melon Ticket Global sells some K-pop shows and asks you to book under the exact name on your passport so staff can check your ID. Verify your account days before the sale, not on the day.

Other ways: travel platforms and on-site tickets

Big travel platforms such as Trip.com and Klook list some Korean attractions and passes, sometimes as official sales partners. Check that the listing names the venue or organizer, and read the pickup rules. For palaces, museums and many attractions, you can simply buy a ticket at the gate. For restaurants, Korea's tourism organization notes that the Creatrip app takes bookings without Korean phone verification.

What our "No Korean phone needed" tag means

On NowHitz, the "No Korean phone needed" tag means we found at least one official way to book that item without a Korean mobile number when we checked it, such as a global booking page or on-site sales. It is not a guarantee. Platforms change verification rules, and some events add ID checks close to the sale date, so open the official booking page and check before you go.

People also ask

Can I use a Korean prepaid SIM for verification?

Often not. Identity checks usually need a line registered in your own name, and many tourist SIMs are not. Use a global booking site instead, and check before you go.

Do I need my passport at the venue?

Often yes. Melon Ticket Global says tickets bought on its global page are handed over on site after an ID check, and NOL World concerts may require passport verification. Bring the passport you booked with.

Can Koreans use the global booking sites?

Some products are for foreigners only. For example, NOL World notes that a Korean passport cannot be used for its concert identity verification. Koreans usually book on the Korean-language sites.
