Busan Biennale ‘Dissident Chorus’ enters its final week before Nov. 1

Busan Biennale 2026, “Dissident Chorus,” an exhibition built around sound and the body, closes on November 1. A free shuttle links the Museum of Contemporary Art Busan on Eulsukdo Island with two venues on Yeongdo. With October 26 a closed day, the final week runs October 27 to November 1.

Theme and artists

This year’s theme is “Dissident Chorus.” Co-artistic directors Evelyn Simons and Amal Khalaf present 46 artists and collectives from 22 countries exploring sound, the body, labor, migration and voices of resistance. They include Julien Creuzet, who represented France at the 2024 Venice Biennale; Filipino performance artist Joshua Serafin; and Korean artists Suki Seokyeong Kang, Dew Kim, Sungsil Ryu and Minouk Lim.

The Biennale opened August 29 and runs 65 days through November 1. It is closed Monday, October 26.

Venues and admission

MoCA Busan stands on Eulsukdo Island, where the river meets the sea. On Yeongdo, Space Wonji is a 100-year-old warehouse that once rented out ship equipment, and the former Busan Nam High School building was vacated when the school relocated in early 2026.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday. Last entry is 5 p.m. at MoCA Busan and the former high school and 5:30 p.m. at Space Wonji. MoCA Busan tickets cost 16,000 won for adults, 8,000 won for ages 13–18 and military or police, and 5,000 won for ages 4–12. Space Wonji and the former high school are free.

Shuttle and guided tours

The free shuttle leaves MoCA Busan at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., stopping at Space Wonji and the former high school before returning. The 11 a.m. departure leaves the most time for seeing all three venues in a day.

Busan City says multilingual audio guides are available via QR codes. Walk-in guided tours start on the hour from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at MoCA Busan, except 1 p.m., and at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. at the former high school, first come, first served for ticket holders.
