Korea in the 1970s–90s

The exhibition looks at Korean society as industrialization, urbanization and the media landscape changed at speed. Realist artists who exposed the tensions beneath the surface of prosperity are at its core.

There are three sections: 'Through the Flickering Lights' on migration to the cities, 'The Abyss of a New Order' on the desires inside a new order of technology, capital and media, and 'Dazzling Void' on the emptiness behind material abundance.

Gana Art donation meets the museum's own collection

It combines works donated in 2001 by Gana Art head Lee Ho-jae with the Seoul Museum of Art's own collection.

The public pages do not list the artists, so check on site for the specific works.

Before you go

On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays it closes at 7 p.m. from March to October and at 6 p.m. from November. It is closed every Monday and on Jan. 1.
