Free entry to SOMA Museum’s ‘six scenes’ on Oct. 17
The SOMA Museum of Art opened the sculpture exhibition “군락: 여섯 개의 뜰” on October 9. The show focuses on the space and relationships between works, and admission is free on Culture Day, October 17.
The exhibition, titled “Cluster: Six Scenes” in English on its poster, is in SOMA’s second building. It treats the shifting view as visitors walk among the sculptures as part of the experience. About 80 sculptures, installations and media works are on view, anchored by 55 holdings from the MMCA Art Bank and Government Art Bank.
The first section presents the works together as a shared landscape. The second turns to six artists: Kim Byungho on urban order, Jung Jungju on light and space, Shin Kunwoo on time and erosion, Choi Xooang on the formation of figures, Kim Kira on nature and industry, and Na Jeomsu on traces and lines.
Placing dissimilar works side by side, the show examines sculpture at a time when no single material or technique defines it.
Moving a few steps to the side of a work brings other sculptures into its background or reveals surfaces that were hidden. The same piece reads differently depending on where the viewer stands.
The show runs through May 30, 2027. Hours are 10:00–18:00, with last entry at 17:00; it is closed Mondays. Standard admission is KRW 8,000.
The official exhibition page lists free entry on Culture Day, October 17, a 50% discount for groups of 20 or more, and free admission for school groups. Group reservation rules and proof required for concessions are listed on that page.
