Two songs Seoul and Tokyo made together at Soundnaru

Official videos are out for “Out of the Blue” and “LOVE & DANCE,” two songs made by four Korean and Japanese acts for the cross-border project Soundnaru@seoul 2026. The videos combine live and studio footage, and a documentary records how the songs were made.

Two songs, two pairings

Rude John and okamotoemi co-wrote “Out of the Blue,” which the project describes as rooted in retro R&B and city pop.

Someone’s Alley and JIN’s “LOVE & DANCE” takes a retro synth-pop approach, linking images of Hongdae in Seoul and Shimokitazawa in Tokyo. Both songs switch languages midway.

How they were made

Online collaboration ran from May to late June. The Japanese musicians joined their partners in Seoul for recording and rehearsals on July 9–15, and the two songs had their live premiere at Seogyo Square on July 17.

The documentary That Summer’s Voyage Log follows the process.

Release dates

The official pages for both music videos went up September 20, followed by the documentary page on September 21.

Watching the documentary after the two songs, then returning to one of them, brings out details missed on first listen.
