Honam’s grid-management substation designation was lifted from October 1. Earlier connection applications from projects already waiting receive priority; eligibility still depends on the substation and the project.
Making better use of the existing grid
The climate and energy ministry’s September 29 grid reform combines new transmission and distribution infrastructure with more efficient use of existing capacity. Measures include flexible connections, energy storage and management of connection rights held by long-delayed projects.
An easing is not an automatic approval
Removing a designation does not mean every project can connect immediately. Developers should check available substation capacity and application conditions through KEPCO’s official online service. We have corrected the earlier wording, “eased today,” to the actual effective date, October 1.
