Since October 1, eligible vehicles returning through the same tollgate within 15 minutes can have the 900-won base toll waived up to three times a year. This is not a waiver of the entire journey’s toll.
The same tollgate, within 15 minutes
The Transport Ministry says the scheme covers electronic-payment vehicles using closed-system tollgates on expressways managed by Korea Expressway Corporation. It applies when a vehicle exits and returns through the same tollgate, with a limit of three waivers per vehicle per year.
Prioritise a safe return route
Do not stop abruptly or make a sudden lane change to avoid a wrong exit. Private expressway tollgates are excluded, so check the road and eligibility details in the official toll guidance. This card clarifies a measure already in effect since October 1, rather than announcing a new rule today.
