Data leaks confirmed at 7 Korean financial firms amid suspected AI-assisted attacks

Seven financial companies, including four major banks, have confirmed data-leak damage. Financial regulators convened an emergency review over attacks suspected of using AI tools.

The confirmed list has grown to seven firms

SBS reports that the affected institutions include Shinhan, KB Kookmin, Hana and Busan banks, plus Yegaram Savings Bank, Hyundai Capital and Welcome Savings Bank. Welcome is estimated to have exposed about 2,200 corporate-client contact records.

Customers should follow each firm's own notice

The scope and data fields differ by institution. With regulators conducting an emergency review, users of the named firms should check official notices for individual exposure, password changes and any additional authentication steps.
