Why NOW picked itA rare chance for golf fans to see Kim Si-woo and an Open champion in one field. If golf isn't your thing, it is hard to recommend the trip to Cheonan.
World No. 13 Kim Si-woo returns to Woo Jung Hills for a second year. The 10th Genesis Championship, Oct. 22–25 in Cheonan, South Chungcheong, also brings Im Sung-jae and July's Open champion Ryan Fox among 126 players.
Who is coming
Thirty-six KPGA Tour players and 90 DP World Tour players tee it up. Kim Si-woo is world No. 13, the highest of any Korean or Asian player, with three runner-up finishes and 11 top-10s on the PGA Tour this season.
2019 champion Im Sung-jae is also confirmed.
An Open champion on a Korean trip
New Zealand's Ryan Fox won this July's Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. He said he is 'very excited to play in Korea again'.
He finished runner-up at a Korean event in 2015.
What is at stake
The purse is US$4 million and the winner takes $680,000. The champion also earns two-year exemptions on the KPGA Tour and DP World Tour from 2027.
The best-placed KPGA Tour player gets a spot in the 2027 Genesis Scottish Open. For DP World Tour players it is the last chance to secure a 2027 Race to Dubai place.
The defending champion
In 2025 Lee Jung-hwan beat Nacho Elvira and Rory Canter by three strokes for his first DP World Tour title. He is again one of the Korean names to watch.
