Four artists based in Nowon are showing twelve works about the small traces left in everyday life at Sanggye Art Space. The free exhibition, Microtrace, runs through October 30.
The exhibition starts from modest everyday things: a favorite character, a plant seen on a walk, an object someone threw away. The twelve works span painting, sculpture, installation and drawing.
Kim Sapi translates attachment to subculture characters into brushwork and visual form. Kim Yeonjin works from bodily experience and inner change, and Hong Ika imagines future plants from what she observes on walks.
Hwang Yeonju uses discarded objects collected at redevelopment sites to show traces left by others. The four share a neighborhood but differ in how they record memory.
Microtrace is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00–18:00, through October 30, with free admission. It is closed Sundays and Mondays; Saturday, October 10, is an opening day.
The venue is Sanggye Art Space, 41-7 Sanggye-ro 10-gil, Nowon-gu, Seoul. Inquiries: Nowon Cultural Foundation, 02-2289-3459.
