Why NOW picked itThe Stamp Museum is a short detour if you're already in Myeong-dong. The stamp is on sale from today at general post offices, and the exhibition is on the first basement floor.
Korea Post puts the Faker (Lee Sang-hyeok) commemorative stamp on sale on Oct. 23: 140,000 sheets and 40,000 albums. Ten days earlier, the Stamp Museum under Seoul Central Post Office in Myeong-dong opened a Faker exhibition hall.
Two sheets, two chapters
There are two sheet types of 70,000 each. 'The Legend Begins' covers his debut-year title through 2016; 'Myth Beyond the Legend' covers the title wins of 2023 to 2025.
The palette is black and red, with a horn motif nodding to his nickname, the Immortal Demon King. The designer is Kim Mi-hwa, chosen in an internal contest.
Where and when to buy
Buy at the nearest general post office or order on the Internet Post Office (epost.go.kr). First-day covers and maximum cards are reported to go on sale only on the Internet Post Office, from 10 a.m. today.
The 40,000 albums come with envelopes; 20% of them hold a 1,000-won stamp instead of the usual 500-won one. Korea Post's head says he is confident of a sell-out.
Uniforms and a game corner in the basement
The Faker exhibition hall opened on Oct. 10 inside the Stamp Museum on the first basement floor of Seoul Central Post Office. It has the stamps, player uniforms, a video of key moments and a game experience area.
Opening hours and admission were not reported, so check with the post office before you go.
Why a gamer got a stamp
An expert committee of historians and professors decides on commemorative stamps. The Stamp Design Office head said nearly all of the 20 internal members backed this one. Faker follows BTS and BLACKPINK as a stamp subject.
Faker said he is grateful for the congratulations and feels a strong sense of responsibility.
