Suwon Hwaseong Media Art 2026: the Sept. 19–Oct. 6 guide, archived
The 2026 Suwon Hwaseong Media Art festival ran from September 19 to October 6. The screening times and route below reflect the official guide for the event period.
THE STORY
Hwaseomun, the west gate of Suwon Hwaseong, was completed in 1796. During the 2026 event, which ran September 19 through October 6, the fortress itself served as the screen for media art.
WHY KOREANS LOVE IT
A UNESCO-listed fortress route used for daytime walks took on light and moving images at night. The event let visitors experience the heritage site as part of the city after dark.
