Five zones, and an incense burner made of mums

This year's theme is 'Chrysanthemums piecing together autumn'. The grounds split into five zones (History, Landscape, Connection, Fragrance and Healing), with chrysanthemum sculptures of the Geumdong Daehyangno incense burner and the Sabimun gate.

Experience booths and food trucks set up alongside.

Four docent walks a day

The chrysanthemum docent programme leaves from the operations office in front of the grounds at 11:00, 13:00, 15:00 and 17:00. A pressed-flower exhibition and workshop run over the same dates.

If you only have a short visit, time your arrival to a docent slot.

A pond with a bridge: Gungnamji

The festival is staged at Gungnamji, inside Seodong Park in Buyeo-eup. A stone marker at the pond cites the Samguk Sagi: in the 35th year of King Mu of Baekje (634) a pond was dug south of the palace.

A red wooden bridge crosses the water to a pavilion. It is a pleasant walk even when the flowers aren't in bloom.
