Zombie Night at Everland: Blood City Zero 'Hell Gate' Is Free With Your Ticket, Until Nov. 22
Why NOW picked itFor anyone curious about zombie makeup and a proper scare, or who wants Halloween mood at a theme park. The live show runs 4–9 p.m., so arrive before sunset to catch both the day safari and the night show.
After dark at Everland, the zombies talk to you first. The theme park's horror zone Blood City Zero: Hell Gate is in its tenth year and runs until Nov. 22, and its outdoor live show, daily from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., costs nothing extra for park visitors.
No stage, no seats
There is no line between stage and audience at Blood City Zero. The whole Blood City area is the stage, so zombies bump into visitors and missions play out in many spots at once.
Everland bills it as Korea's first large outdoor horror immersive live show. Film director Lee Seok-hoon, behind The Pirates and Confidential Assignment 2, worked on the cinematic horror direction.
You are a White Z squad member
Visitors join the 'White Z' squad against the zombie army led by Dark X. You roam five zones as you please: Hell Gate, Out-of-Control Lab, Mad Circus, Blood-Red Correctional Facility and Doom Platform.
Each zone hands you a mission and a stamp on your squad ID card. Collect them all for priority boarding on Monimo Rush in the Doom Platform zone. Zombies over two meters tall, and a school-disciplinarian zombie, pop up to talk to you.
How to turn into a zombie
There are 38 new goods, including skull hooded capes and horned caps. The Alpskutze restaurant serves horror dishes such as a Dark Energy black chicken curry rice and 'lab potion' drinks.
Zombie costume rooms and a zombie makeup salon let you do the transformation yourself. Makeup, goods and some experiences cost extra.
A walking safari by day
During the day there is the Wild Savanna Expedition. You walk through Lost Valley on foot and get close to 15 species including giraffes, elephants and rhinos.
According to The Fact, the Rivertrail section, normally paid, is free during the festival.
Before you go
Direct bus 4105 has run from Seoul Station Bus Transfer Center via Myeongdong, Sungnyemun, Namdaemun Market and Itaewon since Aug. 1, about one hour without transfers. From Gangnam take 5002, from Jamsil 5700, from Gangdong 1113 and from Sadang 1500-2.
