Free Seoul Market Fair at Cheonggye Plaza, Oct. 24–25: Day Stalls and Night Food Until 9 p.m.

Why NOW picked itA good fit if you want market browsing and street food in one stop near Gwanghwamun. The night market runs 5 to 9 p.m., so arriving around dusk catches both the day and night stalls, and Sunday adds live shows.

On Saturday, Oct. 24 and Sunday, Oct. 25, 31 traditional markets set up around Cheonggye Plaza in central Seoul. Entry is free, no booking is needed, and it runs from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

At 5 p.m. the market turns into a night market

The day market runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the night market 5 to 9 p.m. When the lights come on at 5, the same stretch becomes an evening food street.

Cheonggyecheon-ro is closed to cars, and the upper and lower roadways serve as eating areas. On Sunday there is a live show from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and a DJ set from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

31 markets, 38 sales booths

There are also 4 city-policy booths, 6 hands-on booths and 2 photo zones.

Traditional music on Saturday, games and K-POP on Sunday

Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. brings traditional instruments and Korean vocal performance. Sunday at the same hours has traditional games and mask dance, then an hour of K-POP from 4 p.m.

The night shows are on Sunday only.

Make something, then collect three stamps

The day-market craft booths cover pen decorating, a mother-of-pearl phone grip or hand mirror, K-food keychains, eco scrubbers, caricatures and face painting. Materials are limited, so some booths close early.

Get stamps at three booths (policy, experience, sales) for a tote bag or knee blanket. The lucky roulette spins at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Two minutes from Gwanghwamun Station Exit 5

It is about 143 m from Gwanghwamun Station Exit 5, or around 5 minutes' walk from City Hall Station Exit 4. There is no parking.

Payment methods vary by booth, so ask on site. Light rain doesn't stop it; severe weather may change or cancel some programmes.
