Free Until Oct. 25: Buk-Seoul Museum of Art's 'Human Error' Asks What Makes Us Human in the AI Age

Why NOW picked itGood if you want a proper dose of contemporary art for free, or a relaxed Friday visit until 9 p.m. It is out in Nowon, so it is a detour from central Seoul.

Free entry, last day Oct. 25. At the Buk-Seoul Museum of Art in Nowon, 'Inhwan Oh vs. Seo Young Chang: Human Error' uses 23 works of video, photography and installation to ask what makes humans human now that technology is taking over human creation.

Two artists, one title match

It is part of the Seoul Museum of Art's 'Title Match' series, this time pitting Inhwan Oh against Seo Young Chang. It opened Aug. 13 and runs to Oct. 25 across four galleries on the first and second floors.

The show has 23 works in all, spanning video, photography and installation.

One shakes the norms, the other studies the body's limits

Oh looks critically at social norms and identity, with participatory pieces, installations, video and photography.

Seo explores the finitude of the body and its relationship with technological civilisation. Her theme is 'Silicon Vanitas': silicon, the semiconductor material, layered with the vanitas tradition of life's fragility.

Docent tours twice a day

Docent tours run daily at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. through Oct. 25.

If contemporary art isn't your usual thing, timing your visit to a tour makes it easier.
