Why NOW picked itGood for anyone curious how Seoul got its present shape, or looking for a free hour or two near central Seoul.
Who drew the streets and neighbourhoods you walk through in Seoul, and when? The Seoul Museum of History's free 'Seoul Urban Planning' exhibition starts from the city's first urban master plan in 1966 and runs through Nov. 8.
1966: Seoul's first blueprint
The starting point is the 1966 Seoul Urban Basic Plan, introduced as the first record of the city's top-level urban planning.
The show follows how that plan shaped everyday life and the city's growth.
A plan card for your own neighbourhood
It isn't look-only. Visitors fill in a 'plan card for our neighbourhood', and there are urban-planning materials written by residents of Seoul's districts plus a video of hopes for a future Seoul.
The closing question is simple: what Seoul do you want in 2026?
The Urban Model Video Hall joins in
In the Urban Model Video Hall, a media exhibition made with the Seoul AI Foundation and MIT Senseable City Lab runs alongside, looking at visual traces of Seoul on screen.
