On the night of Oct. 23, Jannabi took the stage at KSPO DOME in Olympic Park for its first ballad concert, set on a round stage that pushed out into the crowd. Around 30 songs filled roughly three hours.
A round stage dressed as a living room
The stage jutted out into the audience and was set up like a small room, with a CRT TV, wooden chairs, orange stand lamps and a mirror ball.
Lyrics ran on the LED screen so even non-fans could sing along. The Korea Economic Daily reports the show was split into seven chapters.
From an opener about dreams and books to 'Old Dog'
The opener was '꿈과 책과 힘과 벽'. Then came '첫사랑은 안녕히', '돌마로', '슬픔이여 안녕', '마더' and '늙은 개'.
Singer Choi Jung-hoon sang '뷰티풀' on a headset mic while walking between the second-floor seats.
"Singing ballads is fun too"
Choi said he wanted to break the idea that the band does not play quiet shows, so he made one. On stage he told the crowd that singing ballads turned out to be fun.
Sold out, and the tour finale is Oct. 24 and 25
All three nights sold out within five minutes of going on sale, and the hall holds over 10,000 per night. The ballad format was for Oct. 23 only.
Oct. 24 and 25 bring 'Sweat & Stardust' to the same venue, the finale of a first Asia tour that ran through seven cities from Taipei to Jakarta.
