GOSARISORI: Korean and Corsican voices in Seoul, Oct. 18

GOSARISORI, a co-created work that brings together Korea’s Namdo and Seodo vocal traditions and Corsican polyphony, will be performed at Seoul Namsan Traditional Theater on October 18. It was created by Liquid Sound and the Corsican group A Filetta.

The title

The Calvi festival’s introduction to the project starts with fern roots: stems that grow separately above ground but connect below. The official poster renders the title as branching black lines. The work explores the relationships between distinct voices.

How it was made

Kwon Songhee and Kim Youri held online workshops with A Filetta for four months, then spent a week creating together in Calvi. According to the theater, the work premiered there on September 15 and is in three sections: sprouting, spreading and intertwining.

Lee Inbo directs; Seayool is music director and composer.
