Hanwha Life Esports lost 0-2 to China's BLG on Nov. 1 in the final Swiss Stage round of the 2026 League of Legends World Championship and went out at 2-3. It was a rematch of this year's MSI final, and the winner took the last quarterfinal ticket.
Round 5 started on the edge
Hanwha Life beat Top Esports first, then lost to Gen.G and Invictus Gaming. A 2-0 win over G2 on Oct. 31 (KST) kept them alive at 2-2, which set up the decider with BLG in Allen, Texas on Nov. 1.
A dragon soul in Game 1, early kills in Game 2
In Game 1, BLG completed the four-stack dragon soul first and then won the teamfight, where an Orianna ultimate from 'Knight' landed. In Game 2 Hanwha Life gave up kills in the top and bottom lanes early; BLG won the dragon-soul fight, took Baron and finished the Nexus at 32:44.
Harder to take as the MSI champion
Hanwha Life are this year's MSI winners, and the BLG tie was a replay of that final.
The LCK will not have all four teams in the quarterfinals. Gen.G and Dplus KIA went through at 3-0 and T1 at 3-1, with BLG, Karmine Corp and LYON taking the other spots.
