WHAT YOU LEARN
A true first-step lesson for connecting Hangul letter shapes with their sounds.
READ ALOUD
가 나 다 라 마 바 사 · 아 자 차 카 타 파 하 / 아 야 어 여 오 요 우 유 으 이
HOW TO PRACTICE
For your first passes, look at the Hangul and repeat each syllable aloud instead of depending on romanization.
REMEMBER
Romanizations such as eo and eu are approximations. Copy the spoken Korean sound.

What it covers

The video pairs the 14 basic consonants with ㅏ to make syllables such as 가, 나 and 다, then pairs the 10 basic vowels with ㅇ to make 아, 야 and 어. The aim is to link each letter’s shape with its sound.

How to practice

Listen once, then replay and speak along while watching the Hangul. Romanization is only a hint. Sounds such as ㅓ and ㅡ do not map neatly to English letters, so imitate the spoken sound rather than the spelling.
