Changing pace beside the waves: WHYNOT’s BUEN CAMINO
Dance Company WHYNOT’s BUEN CAMINO: Concept #2 Short Version, a dance film of about 2 minutes 37 seconds, follows a black-clad dancer bending into motion as waves arrive and retreat.
01
Mist softens the line between sea and sky. A figure folds forward at the water’s edge; later, a closer body shares the frame with sand and low waves. The changing distance matters as much as any large gesture.
The director, Youngjun Shin, is WHYNOT’s artistic director. ARKO’s 2025 introduction says the work grew out of a pilgrimage experience and uses the sea to express an inner journey.
Watch For
The dancer’s center of weight and the shifting waves behind are the film’s two threads. Close views alternate with shots in which the dancer occupies only a small part of the landscape. The film is not an invitation to copy the movement at the shore.
