Haeundae Light Festival 2026 Runs Nov. 28 to Jan. 10 on Busan's Beach Near Haeundae Station

Why NOW picked itWorth pencilling in if you're planning Busan for late November. This year's lighting ceremony and programme aren't announced yet, and last season's weekend evenings were very crowded.

Haeundae-gu's 2026 event calendar lists the 13th Haeundae Light Festival for Nov. 28 to Jan. 10, 2027, along Gunam-ro and Haeundae Beach. About 3.7 million people came last season.

The dates are set; the programme isn't out yet

The district's annual calendar, updated Oct. 12, shows the 13th festival running Nov. 28, 2026 to Jan. 10, 2027 around Gunam-ro and Haeundae Beach.

This year's theme, lighting ceremony and daily hours are not on the official pages yet. Every time and programme below is from last season, so check the district's notice before you go.

What last season looked like

The 12th edition, themed 'Stellar Haeundae', ran 51 days from Nov. 29, 2025, with light sculptures, media art and experience programs. The lights were on from 6 to 11 p.m.

The lighting ceremony started at 6 p.m. on the sand, with a five-minute fireworks show at 7 p.m. and a concert by December's DK to finish. Whether this year follows the same script is up to the district's announcement.

Late December: Saturn through a telescope

Last season, 10 telescopes were set up on the beach for the Moon and Saturn, Dec. 24 to 28 and Dec. 31 to Jan. 3, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. In bad weather the programme switched to the Stellarium app or moved to another day.

3.7 million visitors, 130,000 won each

According to a survey reported by Busan Ilbo, mobile-phone location data counted about 3.7 million visitors last season. Among 519 people surveyed, average spending was about 130,000 won: 50,000 for Busan residents and 188,000 for visitors from elsewhere.

That means weekend evenings were packed. For photos, a weekday evening is the safer bet.
