Why NOW picked itA handy last-evening stop in Jeju. It is free and open until 10 p.m., so you can see Cheonjiyeon Falls and make a dinner of festival snacks. Programme times can change, so check the official site.
From today through Sunday, the area around the Cheonjiyeon parking lot in Seogwipo turns into a festival ground. The Seogwipo Chilsimni Festival is free and runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
The parade walks through the old downtown
The centrepiece is a street parade in which citizens and groups march through Seogwipo's old downtown. The Korea Tourism Organization's listing says the opening ceremony is tied to a drone light show.
There are also a youth festa and the Chilsimni song contest, plus a fun run, a horror maze and an explorer team activity.
Snacks start around 1,000 won
Standing programmes include a mini sports day, a flea market and food trucks. VisitKorea lists hot dogs, chicken skewers, tteokbokki and potato swirls mostly between about 1,000 and 6,000 won.
With no entry fee, it pairs easily with a visit to Cheonjiyeon Falls and an easy dinner.
