Bite through a chewy rice cake, crack a chocolate shell, hit fresh fruit, finish on a soft donut. Knotted's seven donut chapssal-tteok launched Oct. 20 and sell only at its Jamsil Lotte World Mall store, from 2 p.m., in limited numbers.
Chewy, crunchy, fluffy in one bite
Knotted describes it in layers: chapssal-tteok (glutinous rice cake) outside, a chocolate coating that cracks, fruit inside and a donut base. It borrows the crack-the-chocolate texture of the wakppu trend, which is why cross-section videos are all over Korean social media.
Seven flavours
Dark chocolate with strawberry, kiwi or orange; white chocolate with mango, melon or blueberry; and Shine Muscat grape with red bean.
₩5,500 each, queues from day one
The Korea Economic Daily reports a price of 5,500 won each and a long queue on launch day; Godiva's chocolate chapssal-tteok (9,000 won), also sold only at Lotte World Mall, has drawn early-morning lines too. Sales start at 2 p.m., and stock is limited, so late afternoon may be sold out.
