What if the top student at an elite high school were forced to sit the college entrance exam for a rich classmate? TVING original 'Daeri Suneung' (The Substitute) premieres Nov. 23 exclusively on TVING, and its official teaser is out.
Taking the exam for a blackmailer
It is set at an elite private high school. Kang Geon-tae, a low-income scholarship student who ranks first, is made to sit the exam on behalf of a blackmailer who knows his secret. Betrayal and tricks pile up until it becomes a crime that cannot be undone.
The poster lays an OMR answer sheet over the two leads, with the red line 'That day, we crossed the line.'
How the three leads split
Bae Hyeon-seong plays Nam Jae-yeop, wealthy and high-achieving, with an image that is only a facade. Cha Kang-yoon plays Geon-tae, and Park Yoon-ho plays Joo Hee-dong, the friend who looks up to him.
Cha called it an honour to play a character who must lead a drama for the first time.
The adults behind the exam
Uhm Ji-won plays an elite mother who gave up her career for her son's admissions, Park Hyuk-kwon is Jae-yeop's father, a candidate for district mayor, and Baek Ji-won plays a mother who turns ruthless when her son's future is at risk.
Who made it
Park So-yeon, director of 'Pyramid Game', directs from a script by Choi Soo. Studio Dragon, Sidus and Studio Wooyoungsoo produce, and TVING provides. Episode count and release format have not been announced.
