Pohang Fireworks Festival Nov. 19-21: France and Japan Light Up Yeongildae Beach on the Final Night

Why NOW picked itNov. 21 is the big fireworks night, with the France and Japan teams. Plan your Pohang overnight stay around that date.

The Pohang International Fireworks Festival runs Nov. 19-21 at Yeongildae Beach and Songdo Pier. The big night is Nov. 21, when fireworks teams from France and Japan take the sky.

Songdo Pier first, Yeongildae last

The festival opens on Nov. 19 at Songdo Pier with a media-facade lighting ceremony and a citizen fireworks show.

The biggest night is Nov. 21: a light-radio and citizen choir programme, then the international fireworks show with France and Japan and a Korean grand finale over Yeongildae.

Nov. 20 is for DJs and the night carnival

Day two brings the Asia DJ Festival and a night carnival. Pick this night if you want music and a street party more than fireworks.

Food stalls and a local market

Food stalls, experience booths and a local produce market sit alongside the programme. If you are staying overnight in Pohang, browse the market before dinner.

Back after a six-month delay

The city's flagship festival normally runs in late May, but local elections pushed it back about six months. The report gives no admission, shuttle or parking details, so check Pohang City's notices before you go.
