YONEX French Open 2026 | An Se Young (KOR) [1] vs Pusarla V. Sindhu (IND) | F

An Se-young Drops Game One, Then Beats Sindhu for a Third Straight French Open and 50 Wins in a Row

She lost the first game 16-21 and never looked rattled. On Oct. 25 (KST), An Se-young came back to beat India's P.V. Sindhu 2-1 in the French Open final, picking up a third straight title, her 10th of the season and a career-best 50th consecutive win.

First game lost to Sindhu since 2023

Sindhu, world No. 11, has the height and reach to cause trouble. She turned 11-11 into 16-21 with a four-point run in game one. It was the first game An had dropped to her since the 2023 Asia Championships.

A 38-shot rally turned it

Game two went 21-11, with An winning a 38-shot rally at 19-8.

In game three she trailed 5-8, ran off four straight points and closed it out 21-12. She is now 11-0 against Sindhu.

The year in numbers

An's 2026 record stands at 66 wins and 1 loss (98.5%). The only defeat was the All England final in March against Wang Zhiyi.

A week earlier, her Denmark Open win gave her a 47th career women's singles title, passing Suzy Susanti's 46. This one makes it 48.

Next stop: 59

The women's singles record for consecutive wins is Susanti's 59 (1993-94). At 50, An is nine wins short.

Seoul Shinmun lists the Korea Open in Yeosu from Nov. 3 next, then the Kumamoto Masters in Japan and the World Tour Finals in Hangzhou from Dec. 9.
